Gateway Club

Gateway Club:

The Gateway Club is for people aged over 16 years.  Members enjoy many activities such as bingo, discos, karaoke, darts, line dancing, drawing or just chatting with friends.  Around 40 members attend this club every Thursday.  In certain circumstances free or subsidised transport can be provided.

The Club has recently won a substantial amount of funding from Essex County Council who support our Charity and we have a jammed packed schedule of events, with outside entertainers visiting our club on a regular basis.   Look at our news and events pages for a full list of the Gateway Club events or download the fabulous Gateway Club News Letter.

Safe Environment:

In order to provide a safe environment for our members, Chelmsford Mencap carefully selects all volunteers and insists on volunteer CRB checks (which we can provide for volunteers free of charge).  We are very conscientious with regards to our members health & safety whilst at the club, and the club is run by a team of experienced and accredited volunteers.  As with all of our clubs we have a waiting list together with an admittance system to ensure only those who have prior permission to enter the club are permitted entry, ensuring our responsible adults to service users ratio is not exceeded.

Drop in Visitors:

Drop in visitors to the club are of course welcome, but where possible these should pre-booked with the Club Secretary or Club Leader.

Location:

Westlands Community Primary School.  The school is reached by entering Beeches Road off Waterhouse Lane and taking the second turning on the left (Beeches Close) which is signposted.  The school is on the right hand side of Beeches Road.  The number 45 bus stops just before Beeches Close with a short walk to the school.  On the return journey, the bus stops at the end of the road.
